The real risk is not price

Price differences between African marketplaces are usually small. The differences that cost you money are counterfeit goods, sellers who vanish after payment, and returns that never get refunded.

Escrow changes the incentive

On Zuma, payment is held until delivery is confirmed. The seller is paid after you have the item. That single mechanism removes most of the disappear-after-payment problem.

Jumia and Kilimall both offer pay-on-delivery in several markets, which achieves something similar for cash buyers but not for card or wallet buyers.

Delivery

Jumia has the largest logistics footprint in Africa and in major cities usually delivers fastest. Zuma routes through its own courier fleet, which is competitive in cities where Zuma Delivery is live and slower where it is not.

Returns

Read the return window before buying anywhere. Zuma refunds to wallet instantly within the category window, which is faster than a card reversal but only useful if you shop there again.

Counterfeits

Every large African marketplace has a counterfeit problem, including Zuma. What matters is how fast a reported seller is removed and whether you get your money back. Buy from accredited sellers where the badge has been verified.
