No legitimate employer charges you to apply, to interview, to be trained, or to receive a uniform. If money is requested at any stage before you are paid, it is a scam.

This single rule eliminates the overwhelming majority of fraudulent listings.

How the scams work

A listing offers unusually good pay for low requirements. You are shortlisted quickly. Then there is a registration fee, a medical fee, or a placement fee. Sometimes there is a real interview to make it convincing.

Overseas placement scams are the most damaging, often targeting domestic work in the Gulf, and can leave people stranded.

What a real listing looks like

• A named company you can find registered
• A salary range, not 'attractive remuneration'
• A specific job description, not 'various positions'
• A company email domain, not a free webmail address
• No fee at any stage

Where to look

Company career pages directly, professional networks, and job boards that verify employers. Zuma Jobs requires employer registration checks and published salary ranges, and removes any listing that asks applicants for money.

If you have been scammed

Report it to the police and to the platform. Keep every message and receipt. Recovery is difficult but reporting stops the same listing catching others.
